SFF News and Submissions Guidelines Update

I want to make a brief post describing how preparations for the first issue of Sorcery and the Far Frontier are proceeding and also to make a few refinements of the submissions guidelines.

I have received very many fiction submissions and am in the process of reading them. I am reading them roughly in the order received, and preparing to get the first round of outgoing responses sent out.

I have had a couple of people ask about simultaneous submissions to multiple publications, and I had an instance where a submission not stated to be simultaneous was accepted at another publication and so was withdrawn. After giving the matter some thought I have decided that I will accept simultaneous submissions but I ask that you indicate clearly with your submission that this is the case and notify me as soon as possible if the story is accepted elsewhere. I do ask that each author submit only one story at a time to SFF.

The other point I want to clarify is the lower limit on the word count I will accept. I have had some submissions in the 1000 word range and queries about even shorter fiction. Currently the guidelines say that I am looking for stories "5,000 up to 15,000 words" in length but will consider shorter ones. I will change this to indicate that I am mostly interested in stories 5,000 words or longer but will consider stories as short as 3,500 words. I am not interested currently in flash fiction.

Thanks for your interest and I hope you will send in a story.
